“To provide quality, accessible community theatre for Ladysmith and the surrounding communities.”
Meet our 2021-2022 Board of Directors
The Ladysmith Little Theatre Society Board of Directors is made up of nine members from our Community. They are elected at our Annual General Meeting.
President, Facilities Manager
A very familiar face in Ladysmith, Bruce has been actively involved in local theatre for over 50 years. Since its inception, Bruce was one of the first people to have been involved in Ladysmith Little Theatre. Serving in many roles over the years, he can still be found volunteering his time to the Theatre, helping improve the space and at the Board table. “Seeing local talent shine has always been a thrill for me”, says Bruce. “I hope this theatre will shine long into the future.”
Bruce was bitten by the theatre bug at an early age. His parents were very involved in the community he grew up in and he spent many hours crawling around underneath the stage while the adults rehearsed. Most of his theatre experience is in performance, so this is a “dramatic” turn for him to be a member of the Board of Directors. He is looking forward to being a part of this exceptional team that has been providing live theatre to Ladysmith and area for many years.
Vicki has been actively involved in Community theatre for many decades, both onstage and backstage! She has worked as a Payroll Administrator for the last forty years and is currently employed in the Finance Department of a province wide union office. She is looking forward to volunteering as Treasurer for Ladysmith Little Theatre.
Secretary, Membership Director
Josée Duffhues is an artist, actor, and director with three decades of experience on various working Boards. Before moving to Vancouver Island in 1992, Josée was an instructor for both the Department of English and the Drama Department at the University of Waterloo. An avid patron of the arts, Josée loves teaching, and, not surprisingly, feels happiest directing plays.
Dave has been involved with the Ladysmith Little Theatre for almost ten years and is excited to bring his unique skills to the Board table. He believes that volunteering and community involvement are what ties a community together. He has previously been an active board member for the Ladysmith Maritime Society, Hamilton Conservation Authority, Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial and Hamilton Health Science Corp.
Director at Large
Director at Large, Marketing Director, Box Office Coordinator
A member of Ladysmith Little Theatre since 2010, Susan has volunteered to fulfill many roles. For the past 8 years, she has volunteered at the Board table, working tirelessly in several portfolios; from President to her current positions of Marketing Director and Box Office Manager. “Ladysmith is an amazing community and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished at Ladysmith Little Theatre. Working with the Theatre is like being part of a large family.”
Director at Large, Front of House
Marilyn has been involved with community theatre on and off since high school in the UK. Starting in Glasgow, moving on to Toronto then in the lower mainland, she contributed to Stage 43 as a founding member back in the 1980’s. Moving to the Island brought new opportunities. Since 2017, Marilyn been dedicated to furthering the mission of LLT as a Board Member, Director, Producer, Actor, Costumier, Makeup Artist etc.
Director at Large, Treasurer Advisor
Lindsey has a background in banking as an account manager. She also has certificates in Accounting, Administration, and Securities, which help her do the all important job of acting as Treasurer for the theatre. She has served in this position for the last 10 years and now shares it with Josée. Lindsey has lived in Ladysmith since 2005. Now semi-retired, Lindsey and her husband love to travel, and are slowly working through their bucket list.
Director at Large, Community Events & Education Director
Kathleen is thrilled to be a board member for Ladysmith Little Theatre. She was encouraged to audition for her first acting role in 2013 and as a newcomer to both theatre and to Ladysmith she was welcomed into the community. Since then, she has enjoyed a variety of roles even acting from her closet at home in her first radio play. Kathleen looks forward to learning and working with the board and the community as we plan for our possible re-opening in the spring.
Director at Large, Theatre Manager
After an absence from community theatre for 40+ years, Anne has become an active member of Ladysmith Little Theatre since the fall of 2017. She has been involved in various productions both on and off stage and now, she is making the leap to a Director at Large. At this point, Anne doesn’t know how she can make herself useful but she is willing and able to take on any position where needed. Anne looks forward to serving at the board level in the coming year.
